Common Inquiries

Answers to key property law questions

Understanding property transactions can be challenging. We have compiled quick answers to some of the most frequent legal queries we receive.

Typically, a residential property transaction takes between 8 to 12 weeks to complete. However, this timeline can vary based on the complexity of the title, planning permissions, and chain dependencies.

Freehold means you own the property and the land it stands on outright. Leasehold means you own the property for a set period (often decades or centuries) but not the land itself, which is subject to ground rent and conditions set by the freeholder.

You should engage a property solicitor as soon as your offer is accepted, or even prior to making an offer, to ensure that contract reviews and structural checks are initiated without delay.
